Magickal Dates of October 2025
September 28, 2025Hello, friends!
It's nice to get back into blogging, though this is a very low-energy post. I am looking forward to October for many reasons, and one of them is Samhain and Halloween! There's not a lot going on this month, so let's just get into what we DO have coming up.
October 6th - Full Moon in Aries
This Full Moon will peak on October 6th at 11:37 PM ET, rising high in the sign of Aries. Full Moons are great times for magick, giving us plenty of energy to do whatever we need. The energy of Aries is confident and leading, seeking to bring ourselves to the forefront.
Coupled with the energy of the Sun in Libra, we may find ourselves stuck in the middle. Libra wants balance, equality, and fairness. Aries prefers authenticity over tact, asserting what is true regardless of how anyone feels. This Full Moon asks us to seek balance between being fair and being authentic. If you're putting everyone else ahead of your own needs, that's not fair to you at all!
October 13th - Indigenous Peoples' Day (United States)
Indigenous Peoples' Day is an officially-recognized holiday in many states and municipalities. It is celebrated on the second Monday in October. It began as a counter-celebration held on the same day as the U.S. federal holiday of Columbus Day, which honors Italian explorer Christopher Columbus. It is celebrated as an alternative to Columbus Day, citing the lasting harm Indigenous tribes suffered because of Columbus's contributions to the European colonization of the Americas. (Wikipedia)
October 21st - New Moon in Libra
On October 21st, we will have a New Moon in Libra, peaking at 8:24 AM ET. Balance is key with Libra. If you are working with the energy of the New Moon, this would be a great time to reflect on your personal goals and how they serve you. Goals are meant to make your life better in one way or another. If you have been working toward something and it just isn't aligning anymore, it might be time to switch it up and do something else.
October 31st - Samhain and Halloween
Some call this the Witch's New Year. Others simply recognize it as a day when the "veil between the worlds" is thin. Whatever you believe, Samhain is a very important holiday in many pagan practices. For me, it is a new beginning. It marks the final descent into the dark half of the year, a time of wintering, reflection, and survival. The Beloved Dead wander the Earth in search of their descendants. Many choose to have a Dumb Supper and create an ancestor altar to welcome their Dead back from the Otherworld.
That's all I've got for October - I hope you have a wonderful Samhain and Happy October!
