New Year Magic: 3 Things To Help You Manifest In The New Year
Hello, friends! It is a New Year, and with every new year comes new opportunities to be the witches we want to be. I don’t know about you, but I often find myself doing really well in the first few months of a year and then, as life gets busy, I start slacking off just a bit. It’s normal, you know? We have things to do and people to take care of, even if that’s just yourself.
To start the year off right, I like to do three different things to give me the best chance to make the most of my new year. Today, I want to share those three things with you! If you’d rather watch this in video format, check out my YouTube video here.
Actually Plan!
I know, it sounds so simple, right? Get yourself a nice planner, one that makes you happy and that you want to use. You can get some on Amazon, find some cute ones on Etsy, or go to your local stores and grab one there. You can even print some daily planners to get you started. The point is to have something you can use to keep track of the dates that are important to you.

It’s not very *witch* at first glance, but creating a ritual around using your planner can be a rewarding process for your practice. Some things you can do to make it extra special include consecrating your planner, having a special pen you use, creating a special place in your home where you do your planning, or burning a nice candle or incense while you use it.
When you get this planner, the first thing you’re going to do is go through the monthly calendar and add in all of the important dates. Base this off what you actually want to honor and not an arbitrary calendar or what you think you should be doing. If you’re Wiccan and you celebrate the Wheel of the Year, add in all eight Sabbats. If you’re a witch with your own holidays, add those in. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Full Moons
- New Moons
- Mercury Retrogrades
- Solar Return
- Sabbats
- Seasonal Shifts (region-specific such as the first snow, mud season, etc.)
- Birthdays
- Astrological Seasons
New Year Divination
During the first few weeks of every year, sit down and do a tarot reading for the entire year. If you don’t use tarot, that’s okay. Choose a divination method that works for you such as runes, ogham, tasseomancy, or charm casting. The reading is done at the beginning of the year to give you a general idea of how the year will go, usually on a month-by-month basis. It is a guide rather than a roadmap, showing you things to consider as you move through the year.
I personally use a tarot spread I created that has one card for each month as well as a card for my yearly theme, obstacles, and yearly lesson. It is a large spread, but I don’t like to overcomplicate it. When I draw the cards, I make note of their general meanings and correspondences, often only using keywords rather than creating a huge interpretation. Then, at the beginning of every month, I reflect back on my yearly reading and do a smaller reading for the following month. This helps me connect with my yearly reading and plan for the month so I know what to watch for.
It doesn’t need to be complicated, but this one does require some continual effort throughout the year. You can’t just do the reading and set it to the side. Every month, reflect on the reading and use it to help you navigate the rest of the year. If you’re not reflecting on the reading and how it’s been helpful, then I honestly don’t see the point in doing it in the first place. So, grab your divination tools and get started!
Manifestation Box
This concept goes along with the idea of “New Year’s Resolutions” but in a more witchy way. Now, these can be created at any time of the year, but I like to start a new one during the beginning of the year because it just makes sense to me. A manifestation box is a tool you can use to help bring your manifestations into reality. Write the things you want to manifest in the new year down on slips of paper and add them to this box. You can include herbs, crystals, sigils, or any other ingredient you feel called to use to help with this. Then, close the box!

A lot of witches go with the set-it-and-forget-it method with the manifestation box. I have in the past and, to be honest, I manifested some of my goals but not all of them. This year (2025) I am taking a more active approach to my box. I will be working with it every Full and New Moon, taking time to imbue the box with energy on the Full Moon and reflect on my progress on the New Moon. Now, I won’t be opening the slips of paper. I set my goals and I know what I want. I have to let my actions and my magic do their work.
So, grab yourself a nice container. It doesn’t need to be a box, either. If all you have access to is a Ziplock bag then that will work! Set your sacred space in a way that works for you, write down your wishes, and add them to your container. Then, throughout the year, work with it if you’d like to. Even if you choose to set it somewhere and leave it alone, make sure you place it somewhere that you will see daily as a reminder of what you want to accomplish in the New Year.
Happy New Year!
However you choose to celebrate the new year and plan for your witchcraft, I hope you have an amazing year! May all your wishes come true and may your life be magical!
